Johnson would never agree to appear on a ticket with Tancredo.  The CP might get .5% of the vote, as opposed to .3%.

This would be a Colorado 2010 style disaster for conservatives.  Probably a 50-30-20 Obama win with over 400 EVs.  It would be like Wilson's win in 1912.

Why does Obama do so well in New Mexico with a Governor from that state running? On the popular vote map, I think I see New Mexico going with over 50% for Obama.

Tancredo would never win 20%.  Where in the world would he get the $ to wage a national campaign?  Do you think major GOP donors are going to contribute to a third party spoiler candidate?

Democrats outnumber Republicans 3-1 in New Mexico. Neither Romney nor Tancredo could win it.

He splits the already marginal Republican vote.  That ticket won't pick up any democrats and no democrats will defect to the republicans to even out the numbers.

Tancredo and Johnson would never run on a ticket together. The two are opposed not only on foreign policy and economics, but also are complete opposites on Tancredo's signature issue, immigration.

Such an incoherent ticket would have little effect on the outcome of the race.

Given that these are made up timelines, and thus, assuming that the Tancredo/Johnson ticket somehow pulls it together enough to run a "coherent" campaign, I think that Obama wins big. Let's just assume the 2012 election would have been a 52/48 election, favoring the Republicans. A Romney v. Tancredo v. Obama race would be the perfect set up for Obama to keep the voters that were going to vote for him anyway (48%), and for Romney and Tancredo to split the rest. Romney would appeal to about 1/2 to 2/3 of the Republican base, with Tancredo appealing to the other 30-40%. I would guess that Obama wins, 49-30-19%.

I would not mind this scenario because I really do not like Mitt Romney as a candidate. I am aucutally personally anticipating and prepared for an eight year Obama presidency.

So that's why you gave Romney a sex scandal and a one term Presidency in your 1972 Timeline. Angry

Tancredo/Johnson gets my vote.

Obama wins, however.
