Cao is universally hated in New Orleans.

Republicans hate him for voting 'yes' on the first draft of the healthcare bill.

Democrats hat him for voting 'no' on the final healthcare bill.

New Orleans is D+25...Cao is chow!

It was humorous to see folks suggest that he might possibly win re-election.

People said the same about Walt Minnick.  Smiley

Democrats tend to be more partisan, from what I can tell. Minnick is conservative enough to be able to easily hold his district, while Cao is sunk more or less by virtue of the fact that he has an R next to his name.

Cao's district is also more Democratic than Minnick's is Republican.

By "religious nut", you mean devout Catholic, which isn't usually a detriment in Southern Louisiana.

I'm a Catholic from New Orleans too. Cao is a poor fit for LA2.

You think people in New Orleans are "devout Catholics?" Err.....no. This thread reminds me of all the "Charlotte Bergmann" can win signs cluttering East Memphis. What a joke!

Many New Orleans residents are Catholics.  It's not a liability to be a Catholic in a Southern Louisiana election.  Being a Republican or other than black in LA-02, on the other hand...

This should come as no surprise, but when I was in New Orleans I saw a bunch of signs like this:

DEMOCRATS
for
CAO

Special bonus points if you can guess what campaign's iconography the center of the "O" in Cao resembled.

Taking pages from Michael Steele's playbook is probably not a good idea.
