I truly feel sorry for the people of Ohio. For the next 8 months they wont be able to turn on their TV cause it will be saturated with Bush and Kerry ads.

I wonder if after that kind of punishment if it will surpress the turnout, or will they be envigorated that they are so important?

They'll all get pissed at the parties and Nader will win the state in an anti-climactic upset... Cheesy

Suppressing voter turnout is a very expensive business.  That's the whole point of negative campaigning.  But I certainly don't envy them either CaliforniaDreamer.  Are you in Guy Houston's assembly district, by any chance?

Nope
Assembly: George Nakano (D)
State Senate: Debra Bowen (D)
US Congress: Jane Harman (D)

Dude, like I live on the coast...we are way too laid back for Republicans here

 Nice Miami.  Thanks!  are the red/blue/green, respespectively, dem/rep/?  (as in, a difference of less than X percent, or outside moe?)

CaliforniaDreamer,
Okay, I'm in Alameda County, about 6 hours northwest of you.  Houston/Gerber was the nastiest campaign I'd ever seen  For the first time ever, I just left it blank.  Yes, it's a cheesey copout, but I swear they were the worst candidates ever.  R won.  Barely.  oh, check it.  Yeah, just looked at a map.  I know that place.  sort of.  Manhattan beach was the first time I ever put my pale white ass in the Pacific, many lifetimes ago.  HUGE waves!

I bet if the campaigning gets negative... which I suspect it will... it will benefit the democrats...

Because like some of you said...  negative ads supress voter turnout...  And this year it seems like Bush hatred is so rampant, the 45% of this country that hates Bush is going to turnout no matter what.

So all I can say is I hope Bush does the usual right-wing nasty campaigning.

The campaign is already negative.  The Dems have spent the last three months competeing to see who can go the most negative on Bush and say the least about themselves (expept Edwards and Liebermann).  More over I find it curious how any fair minded individual could ascribe 'nasty campaigning' to only republicans.  What about LBJ's anit-Goldwater ads in 1964.  Or the 2000 ad that told voters that 'another Black Church will burn' if they elect Bush.  Both sides do it, so don't pretend to be holier-than-thou-art about the issue.

Red=Dem outside MOE
Blue=Rep outside MOE
Green=Inside MOE, too close to call.

The Dem campaign is negative...  I didn't mean negative in the sense of issue contrasts, I meant negative in the Republican sense when they attack war-hero's like Max Cleland as not being patriotic or moderate senators like Mary Landrieu as being ultra-liberals who hang out in hollywood and want to give drug addicts needles and any other crap they made up with messages sounding like they were coming from Bill Clinton.

That is negative campaigning at its finest and of course it's from Republicans.  Since people don't agree with them on the issues.

Max Cleland was not a war hero, but it makes a nice story.

Sorry to break it to you, but people do agree with Reoublicans on a lot of issues. Not all people are New England Liberals. The Republicans and Democrats are both big parties with a lot of supporters and they both do negative campaigning.
