A pity, but he brought this on himself. He had 2 heart surgeries this year, everyone kept telling him that stress would kill him. In fact, only two days after his last surgery he went to a political rally and went back to trying to multimanage things. He was president of Unasur and a congressman after all and i was actually guessing that a fatal heart attack wasn't that much of a stretch.

He was IMHO one of the best presidents Argentina had in the past 100 years, so while my family kind of hated him, i will miss the guy.

Plus he was a much talked candidate for the presidential elections in 2011, considering he had a much better approval rating than his wife and the political repercussions will be interesting to see.

Wow, unexpected. I was just reading about some Nestor-for-President speculation yesterday. Real shame.

What will happen now ?

No Kirchner in the next presidential election !
And probably in the one after the next one, as Cristina alone may not be able to control the Peronist apparatus.

Is everything wide open again ?

It would be kind of tasteless to do it here. Make a thread in International Elections.

I was going to make it there, probably next week.

I'm still pretty shocked that he is dead, i feel that he'll appear again giving a speech on TV any minute now, but i guess it's understandable considering he dominated the political scene since 2003 and i quite agreed with most of what he did.
