I know a lot of you are probably LYAO right now.  But, seriously, if my best friend who is very politically-intelligent, plans to run for presidency as well as go into the Naval Reserves and Law, wants to elminate most taxes especially income, and is generally conservative, but could be moderate.  He is also very likable, almost like a Republican Bill Clinton.  I plan on a career in planning/local gov't and based on my posts, you know how I stand.  Do you think we would win??  Would you vote for us (be courteous and fair please)??  Is 45 a good age?  What problems would we face then (the big question)??  Just pondering.

Maybe. Obviously as you get older and more educated you will become more moderate on some of your positions.

Hell no, because that's when I'm running!

But really, there have only been 46 vice-presidents out of all the men who ever wanted the position, so your odds aren't great. But don't give up, by any means! Gotta keep on truckin', like Nixon. And look where he ended up!

Well, look where he ended up before 1973.

That would be the most socialistic ticket since Debs. I hope that that never happens for the good of the country.

I seriously doubt the first part of your statement, and I beg to differ on the second part Smiley

LOL...OK.  I bet you would too.  LOL.  Oh well.  Yes, I've had some crazy posts, but I know where I stand and other people will too.  And most people will either think, "oh that's actually a bright idea", or "oh, give him a break, he was only in high school at the time and it was 2004 anyway; times have changed."  But come on, it's not DUI, sex, or giving in to the enemy, or anything like that.

Ooo...Interesting primaries.  I have confidence in myself and my running mate though.  Who knows, we might want to wait anyway.  Yeah, both Nixon and Lincoln are great examples of picking yourself up after falling so many times.

Instead of Kerry's "bring it on" our slogan will be, "they're going down".  No, j/k.  I bet it would be an interesting race.  We will get in 2032, regardless.  And people hate taxes, which we plan to do without.  We will also most likely get involved in some kind of miltiary action to protect the country and our interests, so that would favor the incumbent.

So wait...candidate for Pres and VP from the same state? I doubt that would happen.

I might move to FL, TX, WI, or somewhere else, and not solely for political reasons either.  I don't know about Pres though.  Either way, we'll have that Midwest connection.

Bush will hopefully take care of social security for us through privitization and personal accounts.  If that don't work, we'll come up with a better way, I'm sure.

Health care...discount cards (which someone else will pay), cracking down on prescription drug companies and insurance companies, health savings accounts, and the fact that people will have more money in their wallet.

Education...people pay with their own money, now that they have more.  Only if you're kids go to school, will you have to pay.  Instead of $100 registration fees, as well as $500 taxes (just as an example), you would pay the amount you would pay $600, maybe more to offset people who no longer pay.  After all, there's more money in your wallet.  It would definitely make the public schools compete with the private ones.

And we still have sales taxes.  Gasoline tax for roads.

Why?  The Bushes didn't stay in frickin' Massachussets all their life.  Oh, but I s'pose that's not a good example, since you probably don't agree with them for moving either.  But anyway, you know I'm disgruntled about Cook County.  And anyway, there are tons of jobs in my field in Florida, Texas, etc.  I've always wanted to live there anyways...it's so warm, the atmosphere is so inviting, and the economies are thriving, and it just fits in with my viewpoints on life.  I've also noticed my health is a lot better down there.  And if you knew anything about IL, you'd know that the connection between IL & FL is quite strong...lots of snowbirds there.

Hey, I'm just the VP.  And when 2032 comes around, people will understand my hatred for Chicago, realizing the corrupt Mayor Daley was in office then, the corrupt George Ryan had just got out of office, and the corrupt Blagojeviches, Madigans, Obamas, Jacksons, and Durbins did nothing to help the nation or the state at the time.  And you don't need Chicago to carry the state.  Who knows what will happen in 30 years time regarding political shifts.  It may be one of those cases where I would have to do something really awful on live television to not win Illinois.

I like how you apply "corrupt" to an official who isn't even in office yet and hasn't really done anything yet, nor had any scandals.

Obama was a state senator.  And he has a record of extreme liberalism, almost moreso than Kerry's.  Sorry, may have used corrupt to many times.  Maybe "extreme liberals" for the 5 people I mentioned after Daley and Ryan, instead of corrupt.  But Jesse Jackson and Lisa Madigan have thier share of scandals, abuse of power, I'm pretty sure.

Are you concerned about name recognition/pronunciation??  I would...seems crazier than Blagojevich.  Mine should be somewhat easy.  Our last names both start with the same letter and have 6 letters & 5 letters respectively, although people may goof with pronunciation.  Oh well.  Names are key though.  We shall see.

People who aspire to become Vice President don't become Vice President.  You have to aspire to become President and have to settle.  I can even include Cheney in that number because he is something other than a vice president.  I'm sorry but I think that in the next 28 years, if your friend goes on to lead a succesful carreer he will probably betray you.  Maybe you'll get to be an ambasador though, if you are a good fund-raiser maybe even to a country in Europe.
