I'd describe the total fishiness quotient here as "high."

Strange that these things only seem to happen when its a race undergoing a recount that also determines which party controls a legislative chamber.

It is the very first statewide election with the new voting machines. I was surprised nothing seemed to have gone wrong.

And these things happen all the time outside of close elections, too. For example, Connecticut found thousands of ballots cast in the 2008 election well into 2009 and added them to the vote totals. You never heard about it because no races' results were affected.

Not everything is a conspiracy, you know. By that logic, one could say that the Republicans had a hand in making sure that machine wasn't found. I'm not entertaining that, I'm just making the point about absurdity.
