Blatant copy of English.

Social, basically in two groups that have similar social views, ranked basically how I guess they'd be.

Canada
United Kingdom
Australia
New Zealand
---
Ireland
USA

Economic, Free Market-Not-so-free market Cheesy

New Zealand
USA
Australia
Canada
United Kingdom

and I have NO idea about Ireland, but I'd guess it's between Australia and Canada. All Anghlosphere countries are reasonably free market, actually.

after all, why should we resort to data when sheer uninformed speculation is so much more fun?

and in the spirit of lowbrow speculative fun, I'd only change the positions of Ireland and US in the first group, and Canada and UK in the last.  Otherwise, your prejudices line up pretty well with mine.

Ireland has very low taxes, especially on corporations, at least by European standards.

New Zeeland is more economically conservative than the US. They just happen to, by acccident, have social healthcare.

Ireland is the most globalized country in the world.

I’m starting to think that by the end of the century you’ll be looking at China vs the USA along with the other anglosphere nations… I mean this century is not going to be a peaceful one, wars simply for survival are going to be frequent IMHO, in fact China may well be compelled to expand its sphere on influence into central Asia and northern India (Ganges valley) simply to support its self, and most of Europe will see manufacturing being drastically reduced from its present levels leaving an EU (if it still exists) in an even less influential position that it is now, but nations like the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand will no doubt continue to benefit from close relations with the US.

Australia is increasingly alligning itself economically with China-we provide heaps of natural resources already-and a Free Trade agreement has been proposed between just China and Australia (as opposed to the multilateral one) at APEC. I wouldn't support it because it'd flood the aussie market with cheap manufactured items, steal jobs, plus it's bloody China Smiley

Hmm, in terms of censorship however I'd put the UK as the most liberal. There's stuff on UK TV and in our newspapers that would be banned in Canada. Certainly I can imagine most Americans would be outraged if they watched UK TV for a few weeks, with bare breasts, lesbian and gay sex and foul language all over the place. Smiley

I think Aussie TV would give you a run for you're money; on free-to-air-TV we also have straight, gay and lesbian sex; language, and full frontal nudity. Not until 9:30pm, but hey. Not that I think it should be on earlier Smiley

You will occaisonally find nudity/foul language on at 9pm here. However, I have never heard of nudity in newspapers like you have in the UK.
