I think it'll be a close race, but Carter still wins. Bush will probably get the GOP nomination in 1980 and be the standard bearer for the Conservative Revolution. Maybe Carter/Udall v. Bush/Dole in 1980?

I think that Carter will run and possibly win in 1980, what with the close midterms and Reagan's dubious position with the voters. It will be close, though, much closer than the TL's 1976 (or RL 1976, for that matter).
