I could never quite understand why Democrats admire this guy so much.  I know, economic populism.  But his positions on social issues go against everything progressives support.

Hate to turn this into a political thread but two points worth making:

1-Bryan's views on evolution were actually pretty moderate for his day, and would be today in fundamentalist circles. He was more of an old earth creationist than a young earth one and wasn't totally opposed to evolution, he just rejected the idea that humans had evolved rather than being direct creations of God. In my - highly limited - defence, the flower is both fake and an intentional joke. The chronic inability to pose for photographs is not, though it is masked a little by the less than great quality of the picture (because otherwise you'd notice that the head is not actually still). I should see if I can dig up my semi-official photo, because that's even funnier (though in a very different way).
