....and we remember what happened last time he had that status.

Sadly I do remember.

Sadly I do remember.

Sadly, I remember too. I was really hoping for a 40-45 state landslide for Bush  Tongue

As for the Chairmanship, I don't see Dean winning it. He doesn't seem like the type to be a Chairman. And I don't think most of the committee members are fans of Dean, either.

Dean has already received the endorsements of both Hawaii U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and California U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren.

The establishment that worked hard to deny Dean the nomination will work to see that he is not Chairman.

He won't get it! Thank God! Brazil may well get it now, Edwards is also being mentioned... As for Dean, the man has declared open war on any Democrat who dares to oppose his extremist vision of where the Democratic party should stand, he’s like a Democratic DeLay only worse, for these reasons the Democratic leadership won’t let him become DNC Chair. If you want the next four years to see inter party feuding of the worst kind please go ahead and back Dean according to him I’m not even a Democrat so what do I care.

I am ambivalent towards Dean becoming Chairman.  In all honesty, I believe that only Dean can really energize the party again.  But that doesen't change the fact that he's crazy Smiley

Energizing the Party does not win elections, energising the public does! Dean does neither because he is so intolerant of any non-liberals, which coming from him is pretty rich!

Dean is about as polarising a figure as the party could come up with to chair the DNC, he’d destroy the party south of the Ohio, he’d insist on stumping for candidates in the south.. OMG I can see it now! And about half the Senators wouldn’t even speak to the guy, Bayh has a know antipathy towards him and I doubt that Reid likes him a great Deal, I inclined to head Bob Kerrey who suggested Leo Hindery who is interested in the job, a moderate who knows how to run a large organisation and isn’t concerned about his own political vanity (the opposite of Dean).

I really, really hope he becomes chairman. Dems will be proposing a Canadian health care system and trying to ban guns.

If you were really from NH, you might know about Vermont's gun laws. Dean was governor for over 12 years there.

Are we talking Dean the Governer or Dean the Early Candidate, or Dean the Later Candidate?

When I heard Dean speak a few months back, it really sounded as if he needed to hold some political position--like he was stumping for something.

I thought it was for President in '08, but in retrospect it seems much more like a bid for DNC Chairman (going on about energizing the Dems, etc.).

I think the Democrats would do well to pick Dean (and I'm being entirely serious here)--since if you don't give him the Chairman job, he will be running for President in '08...
