Results:

Progressive Conservatives: 61 (-12) 47% (-15%)
Liberals: 17  (+12)  29%  (+2%)
New Democrats: 4 (+2) 10% (+2%)
Alberta Alliance: 1 (no change) 9% (+9%)

Notes: The PC's only won 2 seats in Edmonton, and the Liberals won three in Calgary. The Alliance, despite being shut out of the debate was able to win in Cardston (along the Montana border) with a no-name candidate. All 4 NDP seats in Edmonton. Conservatives won all the rural seats except for Cardston.

In any other province that maniac would have lost.
Oh well... this is about as close as the Alberta Tories will ever come to losing so...

Wow! That is a pretty bad result for the Conservatives!  ....and to lose seats in Calgary?! Amazing.
What was the reason for this poor showing?

Would've been nice to see them defeated in Alberta, but obviously there's no chance of that. Still, a poor result like this is good enough for me! Smiley

Those are very good results. And its good for democracy to see a brand new party (the Alberta Alliance) to pick up a seat despite being shut out of the debates. (even though I disagree with their policies). The Social Credit leader finished second in his riding, and the Greens did very well in many ridings.

I was suprised to find out that, the Liberals used to win seats in Calgary (provincially) just not many- and none at all last time.

I created a map for the election for wikipedia:
