Why and how did Atwater do so well in the reliably Democratic Southeast counties? (Namely Palm Beach and Miami-Dade).  Atwater won Palm Beach County by 7 points and only narrowly lost Miami-Dade.  He also did quite well for a Republican in Broward.  WTF?

Atwater is from the Palm Beach/Broward area, his opponent was from Tallahassee. That might have helped.
