Sad

I figured he was a slam dunk to deliver it but he turned down the chance to give the State of the Union rebuttal - http://politicalwire.com/archives/2011/01/23/christie_declined_chance_to_rebut_obama.html

There's a new thread idea.  Who will deliver the State of the Union rebuttal?

They already decided it will be Paul Ryan so no need for a new thread.

Oh...right.

Out of curiosity, how does a Daniels/Ryan ticket sound?

To me? I guess it's fine. I don't mind Daniels but he might be too boring.

Like an excellent alternative to Ambien.

Christie also declined an invitation to speak at CPAC:

He's also said that he'd rather commit suicide than run for president in 2012.  I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe, he's not going to run.

Other people have declined speaking at CPAC this year for other political reasons.

Well yes, but almost all of the 2012ers have said yes.  I think Palin and Pence have yet to make a decision, but all of the other 2012ers have said yes.

Huckabee isn't going, but my understanding is that he wasn't invited in the first place, as he's had a war of words going with CPAC for some time.

If that wasn't enough to do the trick, he also just appointed a Muslim judge.

He should just directly quote Sherman which seems to be the only surefire way to convince people that you aren't running.

Phil, responding to the SOTU can be the kiss of death, no?

Maybe he's just smart.

Running against Obama could be the kiss of death in a NJ re-election race.  Christie prefers to pick fights with teachers.  Which is enough for a national donor base.
