Top of the ticket is strong Governors from the northeast. Obama is re-elected in 2012 by the same margin he was elected in 2008.

Economy is pretty decent, 5.5% unemployment, inflation on the rise. Social Security hasn't been solved, deficit is smaller but its still pretty huge.

Christie - 271
Cuomo - 267

but i can see this going either way

IMO; christie wins. but I don't know, it's getting really hard for a republican to top 270 EVs

Republicans basically need to do one or more of these things:
Appeal to moderates/independents
Appeal to Libertarians
Rejuvenate the Cosnervative base
Adjust to changing demographics
Pass policies that will get rid of the problem of changing demographics (I know the rest of you will freak out at this)

yes, and I think it's a tough job. a republican landslide will be pretty difficult in the future.

I have a feeling either Republicans will have to "Re-Reaganize" the country by nominating a Conservative Republican during the perfect storm of circumstances, or they will go the way of Republicans back during the thirties through the fifties, with them basically being secondary to the Democrats. It seems strange talking about it only thirty years after Reagan first took office.
