With the site already being chosen, at least for the DNC, it seems that almost every other DNC there is a rising star to give the keynote speech that eventually climbs his way to the Presidency.  In 1988 it was Bill Clinton, and in 2004 it was Barack Obama.  Who do you see, in either party, that could have that kind of impact and really launch him or her onto the national stage?

I'm really talking more of the Democratic Convention since this is the last Convention that Barack Obama will be the nominee.  Who do you see now that could really make a name for themselves for the 2016 race?

Mark Warner or Michael Bennett. Maybe Sharrod Brown?

Well the new Charlotte mayor, Anthony Foxx is certainly a rising Democratic star, but I don't think we'll be seeing him at the national or federal level for a while.

For the Democrats, I'd say Mark Warner, Kirsten Gillibrand or Martin O'Malley would be good choices.

The the Republicans, Thune obviously comes to mind first. Rubio would be a good choice considering the RNC location. My third pick would be Brian Sandoval.

I agree with all 5 of these names.  They could certainly make some noise in this convention.

I'm thinking more John Thune since he defeated Tom Daschle in 2004, something I thought couldn't be done.  Marco Rubio, is a good choice, but he just came into the Senate last month.  I know Barack Obama did that, but to me, that was a rare case of euphoria.  I guess it still could be done considering Rubio is a Latino, but still, I don't see his star rising too much until the 2016 RNC.

I second whomever mentioned Kirsten Gillibrand. She'd be a great choice.

Didn't Warner speak in 08? He was terrible!

Gillibrand must be picked.

That's right, Warner did speak come to think about it.  His star hasn't exactly shined too brightly, as in not all of America knows who he is.

KG would be a great choice, I fully agree with that.  To be honest, I think she would be my current choice for first female president.

Gillibrand, Anthony Weiner, Julian Castro, or Ben Lujan, if we're looking for rising stars, probably.

If she has fully ( or at least close to fully) recovered by then, Gabrielle Giffords (or at least some kind of speaking spot--the standing ovation would be insane) would be my top pick. Though Martin O'Malley (I'm biased--he's my Governor) and Kirsten Gillibrand would be great choices, too.

Warner gave a great speech in '08.

I think Coons, Gillibrand, or (if she's recovered) Giffords would be great choices.

Andrew Cuomo for the Ds
Chris Christie for the Rs

if Obama wins in '12 just imagine how great a '16 race between Christie and Cuomo would be.
