He has no base whatsoever. He's most likely lobbying for a Cabinet or Cabinet-level position in the next GOP Administration, like HHS Secretary or EPA Administrator. He would be a good VP pick, however, to shore up moderate voters.

Pataki would be an acceptable option in my view.

I wonder if someone is going to predict that he makes New York competitive.

B33 knows full well even Teddy Roosevelt wouldn't make NY competitive in today's world.  Wink

My old highschool classmate heard Pataki speak in Iowa. He said Pataki is a boring speaker. Anyone share this opinion?

He's one of my top choices to be VP. A little too moderate for my presidential taste, but I'd still gladly support him if he has the chance to win the nomination

I lived in NY from 1997 to 2001. Yes, Pataki is boring.

No, he can't make NY competative. Though some of the numbers he used to run up were astounding, I doubt any Republican would do so well for President. 40% in Queens, yea, not likely. And, his third term was a disaster.

This is the most recent poll I could find on Pataki's approval rating in NY: http://www.scribd.com/doc/38978756/PPP-Release-NY-1082

About even approve-disapprove, but under 40%

This endeavor by Pataki seems pointless and without meaning.  What does Pataki bring to the table about anything?  Just asking.
