Italy and Germany meet in a Friendly match this Wednesday. Two of the most successful national teams in Soccer happen to be represented by some of the more passionate Soccer fans here. Let's hope for some fireworks through the week. When you're done caring about the Super Bowl on Sunday, be sure to shift your focus to...

Keystone Phil vs. Lief/Lewis

And you have to love that the Friendly is in Dortmund. You know, the city Germany has never lost in except for that one game...

Italy/Germany is probably the best combination in soccer. They gave some of the most epic fights of soccer's history. Smiley

Aw, friendlies don't count. (Though it's a good thing to have a meaningless friendly at this kind of unfortunateish date at least be against an opponent people care about. Cause when they aren't, they tend to be dreadful games and end 1-1 or 0-1.)

The record of competitive German-Italian games is seriously hilarious, though. Grin (I think there's an exception somewhere, but as a rule they're draws, and then when the rules call for a winner to be determined, Italy wins on overtime.)

Well, yeah. Any Italy game means that. Sorry for leaving out Franzl in the Germany contingent, too.  Tongue

You say that now because Ballack isn't playing!

Old footballers are overrated, Phil. I don't give a damn about Ballack. It would be an exaggeration to say I don't give a damn about the national team, but it isn't my team -  That's Eintracht - and in their matches I tend to care far more about a good game and about guessing right about what's going to happen than about who wins. As you should be aware by now. Tongue

This is only a friendly match. Not very interesting Wink

And it's never fun to see Italy playing Football. Only in the last World Cup they were very entertaining Grin

I know, I know but at least there is a history which allows a possibility of an entertaining match.

Do you know what time the match is? Maybe I'll try and stream it on the internet (but with Italian or German commentary is the question...)

As Lewis said, it's 2:45 Eastern. Stupid GolTV is covering Portugal vs. Argentina though and it looks like the almost totally worthless Fox Soccer Channel won't be covering any Friendly this Wednesday. Disgraceful.

I'd say 2:1 for Germany.

Here is the current Live Stream of Netherlands vs. Austria:

I'd say 3:1 for the Cheeseheads.

"...and the pass: incomplete...as they would say in the Super Bowl."

Oh, silly British commentators.

Definitely more exciting for a Friendly but that is to be expected with these two teams. Let's just find an equalizer then the go ahead goal right before the end, boys.  Smiley
