Florida's Redistricting App this is from/for the Florida House, so ordinary folk can submit redistricting plans.  Currently it is loaded with 2000 data and takes a long time to initialize.

We're still in the alpha phase of developing the application, what we call MyDistrictBuilder.  We should reach beta before mid-March.  We've released the link to the alpha though in order to already solicit public feedback and suggestions.

Thanks for the heads up about the slow load.  Right now we're taking steps to simplify how the geography and other information moves and is stored, thereby reducing bandwith and hopefully increasing the speed for the user.

You can follow us via FloridaRedistricting.Org or via MyDistrictBuilder on Twitter and Facebook.

Happy Wednesday!

I found the link in a Stateline article

It made it sound like you were further along, with the senate lagging.  Maybe it was referring to internal tests.

With the integration of the image data it should be a big help.

I just played around a bit and clicked on some block groups and saved the map.  Is there a box zoom?

Thanks for coming to Atlas to explain!  Super cool, hang around.  We have more than a few people here into Florida mapmaking.

I had embedded the links in the Florida thread a couple of days ago, as well.

Florida used a publicly accessible tool for mapping 10 years ago, and they will do so again. Last week they updated their website, and provided a link to the mapping tool. The tool only has data from 10 years ago at present, but you can see how it works. Later this year the tool will be the official site for public submission of plans to the legislature.
