The only thing that allowed them to win was choosing national hero Douglas MacArthur for Vice-President. While MacArthur was not a Conservative, he consented to being on the ticket. *****Eisenhower died of a heart attack during the second year of his Presidency. The much more Progressive Nixon took over. *6-Nixon assassinated in Maryland by Arthur Bremer. Romney becomes first Mormon President and picks Senator Yarborough of Texas for Vice President
