Lieberman? Hillary? Obama still? A Republican in his second term from 2004?

Gore is reelected in 2004. Jeb Bush defeats Hillary in 2008.

Gore dies on 9/11, Joe Fascistman turns America into a dictatorship and sets himself as president for life.

Gore narrowly loses to a Republican in 2004.
Republican loses big in 2008.

He would of probably lost the senate in 2002 and would have lost in 2004. The R would have done well in 2006 and 2008, but this year would be the 2006.

Pretty hard for the Tea Party to rise behind a declining national debt. Wink

Instead the 90s anti-Clinton militias probably would've just continued under Gore and shot up the place.

I highly doubt it, 16 years of Democrats will cause a Republican to get elected. My guess is Romney/Huckabee

No, what I mean is that Gore won Florida, Bush stole the election, and then Obama won in 2008.

Which is what happened in real life.

I beg to differ. High taxes+police state enviromentalist laws precipitating gas prices in line with Europe+9/11+worse failure in Afganistan+mandated socialized medicine= Tea Party in 05 with a full Conservative/Libertarian alliance

There wouldn't be a war in Iraq if Gore won, but that's pretty much the only major difference.

McCain wins in a close election in '04 running off of national security issues.  Due to butterflies 2008 economic meltdown doesn't occur until after the '08 election, in which McCain was re-elected by a wide-margin.  McCain is in office with approvals in the low-to-mid 30's.

whichever party is in power during the economic crisis is going to lose in 2008. If Gore wins reelection in 2004 then there is probably a slightly faster response. If McCain or one of the Bush's wins in 2008 then they lose in 2008.

Hard to imagine a fourth straight term of one party's rule, so Gore would probably lose in 2004. That means, with an economic crisis still coming, some Democrat in 2008.

Uh not so much. It would follow the Reagan, HW Bush, Clinton pattern. That Republican would get two terms because him and the GOP led congress would tighten the loose spending Gore would do for his enviro agenda. Remember the auto bailouts were opposed by almost everybody outside of the tells of power.

Giuliani would have won the Republican primary. Clinton would have won the Democratic primaries. Can't tell who will win just know it would be close.

Assuming Gore wins in 2004: If Lieberman is the Dems nominee in 2008, then any other Republican by a wide margin.

However, many of Lieberman's views were actually contradictory to Gore's. If Gore fired him (which a Newsweek article detailing this very same thing said would happen in 2005, 2006 or 2007) then Hillary Clinton, John Kerry or whoever Gore would choose as his new VP would probably lose in 2008. Just the natural order of things.

Assuming Gore loses in 2004: McCain, one of the Bushes or whoever's the GOP nominee is decently popular until the economic collapse, after which they're beaten by a Democrat (possibly Obama or Clinton) by a decent margin.
