Cool! I'll totally call it long distance and ask one of his secretaries something irrelevant.

At least from Germany it wouldn't cost more than 10 cents/min. or so Smiley

edit: 5.1 cents is the current rate.

Why pester the man?  You're all cheering the rise of the new Khameneis in Egypt, why disapprove of him?

I really don't know how can someone compare situation in Egypt in 2011 with Iran in 1978.

Seriously?  You have a deeply unpopular Westernizing dictator overthrown by a mob of religious Muslims.

Not really. Here are facts:

In Iran, most of the revolutionaries weren't fanatical Islamic mob. But Islamist were only forced basically untouched (unlike progressives) by Shah regime, so they were only to fill a void.

I recommed "Persepolis" or/and Kapuscinski's "Shah of Shahs" to read.

In Egypt, meanwhile, Islamist are just a part, not dominating, of the process and there's secular army which is a strong, respected force that can maintain power, unlike extremists.

Also, Sunnis doesn't have ideology of the "Guardianship of the Islamic Jurists", unlike Shias.

The end result however is the same in either case - theocracy.
