Indiana State TreasurerRichard Mourdock will launch his primary challenge to Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) on Tuesday with the support of a majority of both the state's 92 Republican county chairmen and its state party executive committee, he told the Fix in a recent interview.

"I feel bad that he's going to be humiliated by this list," Mourdock said.

Yeah, the inmates are running the asylum. That much we knew after the Joe Miller and Christine O'Donnell sagas.

"I feel bad that he's going to be humiliated by this list"? What kind of high school comment is that? This primary will surely be entertaining.

I know my county chairman very well, and I'm extremely disappointed she will be supporting Mourdock. Hopefully Lugar can pull through.

If there even will be a primary. He might well decide to retire.

Seems like a move to scare him into retiring.

Accordingly, Mourdock = dead duck.

Daniels will rescue him like Palin did McCain.

Daniels doesn't run a cult and Mourdock isn't J.D. Hayworth.

So, this makes Lugar the anti-establishment candidate?

Yes.
And thus also the tea party candidate and the prohibitive favorite, of course. If only.

Lugar is pretty far right-wing, his only mistake is that he's not 100% insane.

Who do the Dems have here anyway? Hill? Donnelly? I guess Presidential election turnout would help them but, as of now, we're not seeing a repeat of 2008 in Indiana so Mourdock (who seems pretty popular) should head into this in pretty good shape.

My guess would be he bucked his party one time and sided with the dark side, and therefore he's a RINO.

Lugar is clearly planning to lose the primary and pull a Murkowski. Or pull one before it. He will never run as a Democrat, but he is likely to end up running as the de facto Democrat.

Some imaginary notion that he's not conservative enough.
