Wait, the Republicans have Delaware? Is the twist supposed to be that the electorate is from a different time period or something?

I'll say, tb!  Obama got 61% in Delaware in '08, and the last time a Democrat got less than 50% in the state was '92, when Clinton won it even though Perot got 20% of the vote.

Does Obama have a shot at Idaho?  Smiley

Reasoner: It's exactly midnight and ABC has some important calls to make. Howard?

Smith: In the states of Florida and Arizona, ABC News gives Huckabee these two states. Florida stayed close the whole night, while Arizona took three hours to call. Both are made close by Paul.

ABC News now has two more states to call for the President, ABC News gives New Jersey, Iowa, and Washington to him. New Jersey was really close the whole night, while Iowa went back and forth between Obama and Paul.

Here is the updated map, with the Northeast and the south now decided:

Obama/Biden- 208, 44%

Huckabee/Daniels- 180, 43%
Paul/Bachman- 13%

Reasoner: Let's now go to Frank Reynolds who has an update, Frank?

Reynolds: Thanks, Harry. We have just found out that Governor Daniels has flown to Little Rock and will be here shortly. He had a campaign manger come our and address the supporters at the Indiana state capital that Daniels would not be there but will be in Little Rock with Governor Huckabee. He also said the supporters could stay at the HQ or go home. But this is major news for the Republicans, Frank Reynolds ABC News.

Smith: We will be back after this message.

World has shifted to the right or Libertarian
Map will form some sort of picture

Reasoner: Welcome Back, it's 1:00 Am and now every state has closed, with Alaska just starting to return results, but that is not the top story, Howard has that.

Smith: Harry, ABC news gives the important state of Ohio to Governor Huckabee. With 90% of the vote in, Huckabee has a 4 point lead over Obama and Paul. We also give the state of Oklahoma to Huckabee, Paul almost took the state but with 65% in Huckabee has a big enough lead to declare.

Let's look at the updated map:

Obama/Biden-208 EV's, 42%
Huckabee/Daniels- 207 EV's, 43%
Paul/Bachman-15%

Reasoner: Howard, it's interesting to note that every Republican presidential nominee that has won has Ohio as one of their states. Without Ohio, the nominee will lose like McCain did in the last election.

Smith: I bet the president is sweating bullets by now Harry. Either way we will still be here for a while. We will be back after this message.

Reasoner: It's 2:00 AM in the east, and ABC News has an important state to declare.

Smith: It has taken all night ABC News gives the state of Pennslyvania to Huckabee. This all but eliminates Obama's hopes of winning. Huckabee's final margin will be 1 point. ABC news also gives the state of Utah to Governor Huckabee.

We also have a call in Alaska, ABC News the state to Paul, his first state of the evening. Let's look at the map:

Huckabee/Daniels- 231 EV's, 43%
Obama/Biden- 208 EV's, 42%
Paul/Bachmann- 3 EV's. 15%

Reasoner: Let's now go to White House Corrispondent Tom Jariell.

Jariell: Harry, the mood has dropped big time since ABC gave Pennsylvania to Huckabee, mainly because the other networks still have it as undecided. Either way, Obama is expecting Pennsylvania to go to the Republicans and his chances will go down the drain as well. Nothing has been announced so far bout the concession statement as of yet, which is expected to be in the morning. Tom Jariell, ABC News.

Smith: Let's now go to Galveston Texas and correspondent Sam Donaldson.

Donaldson: Howard, Congressman Paul is very happy about our call of Alaska. Despite not having a realistic chance at the victory, Paul has told me that he hopes to win at least a state to prove how hard he has campaigned, and that has happened according to ABC.  I don't know anything about the concession speech however, he said it may come tonight, but most likely tomorrow. His VP candidate Bachmann will join him as well, which will bring some extra publicity due to her campaign pledge. Either way, the Paul camp is lively despite loosing. Sam Donaldson, ABC News Galveston Texas.

Reasoner: We will have more right after this.

Paul takes a state!

Also, will we see what the "twist" is when this is done?

Reasoner: It's 3:00 Am and we have important news, Howard?

Smith: ABC News projects that Huckabee will win Nebraska, Texas, and South Dakota. This will make Governor Mike Huckabee the 45th President of the United States. Let's go to Little Rock Arkansas where the crowd is in celebration mode. Our correspondent Frank Reynolds is there, Frank?

Reynolds: Howard, the has been cheering loudly for the last few minutes. We are the second major news source to declare Huckabee the winner, The AP is the first. Despite being very late and most of the crowd is tired, the folks are letting their voices be heard here and it is quite hard not to hear. We have no idea if Huckabee is getting concession calls from the President and Mr. Paul, but we do know that the governor will not speak until the morning.  Frank Renoylds, ABC News.

Reasoner: Let's look at the map:

Huckabee/Daniels-276 EV's, 43%
Obama/Biden-208 EV's, 42%
Paul/Bachman-4 Ev's, 15%

Smith: We will be back with more post-election discussion in a moment

Obama gets only 42% of the vote, even with a divided right-wing?

It took that long for Oklahoma to be called? Even with Paul running, it wouldn't be close.

Final Results:

With popular voter margins:

Well, that's it for this tl. Many of you asked what's the reason why this tl is weird. Well, to tell you the truth, I don't know either. This started as a serious tl that got silly, but i plan on making the next one serious. Most of you guys handled it well, except for the rookies.

What do you guys want next 1968 in 2012 or 1976 in 2012?

1976 with Reagan and Ted Kennedy as the nominees? That would be cool...

I'd like to see Nixon and Wallace compete in a modern setting. It'd be sweet if you included debates.

I could try, but it might end up with three parties at the end
