Yes, and it's a very good rule.

Sometimes I feel we should have one post per hour rule.

What is your opinion of this thread?

NO!

(I could be led to support a 24 post per day rule, but in the end I think I wouldn't support that either)

Clearly the solution is to privatize presidential elections.

So, in less than four years, get excited for the 2016 MetLife Financial U Pick The Prez Extravaganza. If you tweet a picture of your completed ballot with the hashtag #ivoted, you could win a trip for two to the inauguration or an iTunes gift card.

It helps stop spam bots, and also double submissions of identical posts.

I wouldn't either, nor should anyone on here. Two words: election nights.

What's with this "your IP"? I tried to post from 2 different IPs, and I still got that.

I just tested it out and it's really difficult to make two posts within 20 seconds of each other, unless you have not only two windows but have both messages typed already and just have to press the send button.  Maybe my computer is just slow.  Or maybe it's just me.

I've only had it happen when I've voted on polls and given one word answers.....unless your Kal, it's not a problem.

When it's happened to me, it's typically because I was posting & sending a PM at the same time, which is a big reason that I will have two tabs open at once. I suppose that observation reinforces Kevinstat's point that you usually have to try to run into this barrier.

It's only annoying because it counts logging in as posting...

And failing to post because of the rule counts as posting too. This means you can get stuck in a sort of rut because of it.

^^^^

Though I hate to agree with BRTD, that last post is correct. Counting logging in as posting is dumb enough, but a failed post counts as posting too!

(Otherwise, the 20-second rule would be far better)

I don't like it either, but it actually makes it perfect for stopping spambots.

Remember HarrisonFord? If this feature was active back then nobody would have received that hideous photoshop'd image! But if it didn't count failed posts as posts, then HarrisonFord (to continue the example) would have still been able to send off a PM every 20 seconds.
