Or has Obama aged quite a bit in just these two years? I was watching a video of him from a few days ago and he's going rapidly gray and Idk...he looks tired. I realize the office ways heavy on every man who is in it, and it ages all of them of course, faster than time ages regular people, but I didn't think it could age someone that quickly.

Presidents are busier now then ever before. Washington was frequently bored, but every minute of Obama's life until 2012/2016 is on a schedule.

It's just kind of saddening to see. He's aged more in 2 years than most men age in 5.
I don't think any guy who seeks the Presidency really has any understanding of it's weight until he's there. I'm sure they have some conception of the stress...But acknowledging the stress of the job, and actually living it, are two very different things, I would imagine.

That's why as much as I may want to hate some Presidents, I can't hate any of them, because every man who has the strength to bear that top job, whether they do a good job or a bad one, still has more strength than most men.

People always talk about them undergoing so much aging, but Clinton and Bush both look like they aged about 8 years (although Bush lost some weight it looked like).  As for Obama, he doesn't really look like he's aged at all.

Obama's hair is slightly graying, but imagine that is normal (hope and) change for a 50 year old male.

It was slightly gray when he started though.  Like I said, I don't see much more change than simply normal aging.

It's almost as though presidents are subject to the same patterns of physical deterioration as humans. Remarkable.

Lincoln is worse.

Compare this: (1859)

to this: (1864)

Lincoln and FDR look much older than their ages were in 1944 and 1864. Though they served during incredibly stressful times, so it's easy to see why they aged so dramatically. It's just sad to see though. Lincoln and FDR looked like vital, generally youthful mature men when they entered office, and were whittled down to looking like frail old men by the time they died in office.

With FDR especially, if you read anything of his medical history, it's an amazing feat that he was able to work through the day by 1944, much less lead a country. The guy was battling emphysema, congestive heart failure and infections, and was running uncontrolled blood pressure rates around 220/150, and yet still managed to run a country successfully through a World War. That alone is a testament to his strength as a leader, and as a man.

No president had it easy, but those two had it hardest.
