I don't understand how a generally sensible poster like Lief can be a monarchist. Heck, I don't understand how anyone enough in touch with modernity to post on an internet forum can be a monarchist.

I'm a monarchist.
What part of "generally sensible" do you not understand? Wink

Al's opinion of OldiesFreak's sig

Stunningly stupid, and therefore rather apt.

Marijuana has been proven to be a gateway to using other drugs.

No, that has not been proven.  Perhaps, there's a statistical correlation but correlation does not equal causation.  No study has come close to showing that marijuana use causes hard drug use.

And as for gay marriage, I support equal rights for homosexual couples, but don't redefine marraige to do that.  Call it a "civil union" and give them the rights, but don't be changing a religious definition.

How does changing the law change the religious definition?  We have a separation of church and state and ultimately, nobody can force you to support gay marriage.  And really, if it's the same in everything but name, doesn't that imply gay people's relationships are lesser compared to "real" marriages.
I might get to pot later, but by sanctioning "gay marriage" you are violating the religious beliefs of those who do not recognize that as a marriage.

Just out of curiosity, Oldiesfreak, do you have the number 1854 in your username because that's the year you are living in?

I know I sound like Joe Biden, but it's the truth.

Not really.  Joe Biden is smart.  You sound like a mental patient who's also had a lobotomy.

Who else gets irritated when someone (presumably accidentally) substitutes 'succession' for 'secession'?  Tongue
A little.  What annoys me more is when Republicans in states like Texas talk about secession because of Obama when it was Democrats who supported secession because of Lincoln.

Hmm... could that maybe suggest that those Democrats are now Republicans?

Those Democrats are now dead. Tongue
Yeah, but would YOU want to support Democrats if you knew about that, no matter how long ago it was?

I'm an advocate of secession, so yes. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party no longer has the platform it did in the 19th century, as everyone except yourself seems to have noticed.

Not sure whether to put this in the comedy mine or the sulfur mine but since it's Winfield I'm putting it here:

No.

I am not so desperate as to seek spiritual inspiration, much less anything else, from a cabal of spaced out pot heads.

I thought you liked smoke filled rooms.

I'm not relligious (quite opposite, actually), but I'd expect a church should be about something deeper than getting a free pot.

Seriously, does your "faith" have any real backbone at all?

I've no idea what incident they're referring to, but Al's prose is always epic.

I'm making perfect sense. You are just emotionally malformed.

Actually, no, the phrase "emotionally malformed" is pretty fantastic.  Moderator's decision is final.

Literally every other sentence and clause in this post is either sexist bull, or a cultural product of sexist bull being used to back up the other sexist bull.

Is he autistic?

Regardless, he's terribly unfunny.

Yes, and you are such a great person Napoleon.  So full of niceties and just an overall pleasant individual.  May your high character, and noble treatment of all, be a shining example to others!

Not too much of an opinion on his Svensson incarnation but his Townsend iteration was a ridiculously pompous, overly sensitive gobsh!te who seemed to specialise in mock outrage. I can only assume his hilarious meltdown was as a result of the perilously thin air atop his high horse. Certainly a HP.

How would you compare a broken leg to having cancer?

The fact that his forum approval rating is positive is a truly awful reflection on the forum.

No, that would be something like, say, this thread.

The fact that his forum approval rating is positive is an indication that there aren't quite as many fragile pantywaists here as I initially thought.

I literally have never once been offended by any of his posts and have no clue what the big deal is.

For Christmas, I'd love the gift of total density. It would be great, if even for just a day, to fail to comprehend anything that doesn't jive with how I see things. "I agree with X's blatant extreme hackery and trolling so I don't understand why people are offended!" Oh, to live your life...

You've never needed (or think you've never needed) special education, ESL education, or personalized attention from a teacher, have you?

Well, no, and during great American times such as the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, with booming economic growth, few needed such labor intensive, extremely costly things.

Uh...plenty needed. Few got.  Booming economic growth or no booming economic growth, times were exceptionally un-great for children in this country who spoke English as a second language or had any of a whole host of psychological problems right up until very recently, and by and large still are. The economic wellbeing of America as a whole didn't help these particular children learn, you know. There would be an obvious argument from individualism to be made here if you cared about the individual, but you are on a variety of issues one of the most openly authoritarian-collectivist American rightists I've ever met so I won't bother. I'll only say for the benefit of the rest of the forum that learning disabilities and children who aren't growing up speaking English are not new, damlibrul concepts, even if caring or pretending to care about them in educational policy is, you risible, crypto-Francoist Scrooge.
