Yeah, I've been reading the Crete thread as it goes along as well. Almost even considering throwing down the money for an SA account to take part in it. I bought Rome when it came out and was horribly let down, though Wiz's mod actually makes the game decent.

In Victoria, right?

I read several SA boards, and that one in particular has some funny threads.  I've been toying around with posting a link to The You Testament on the Religion Board.  I'm not a Christian and that game offends me with its bastardization of Christianity.  How can you create a Jesus game and screw up Jesus?

I played Hearts of Iron hardcore in highschool, especially mutliplayer that I would play with at the same time every week.  HoI is single-handedly responsible for my ability to name obscure state capitals

I credit EU and CK with my knowledge of European geography.

I credit Victoria with my knowledge of modernism and philosophy.

I've always meant to take the time to actually read their overly thorough overviews of every philosopher ever, but they're so terribly boring Wink

I'm sure they are (by "overly thorough" I meant "very thorough", essentially), but philosophy doesn't tend to excite me.

Love the EU's. Also have Crusader Kings and Vicky, but both discs are corrupted.

I believe my dream game would be a cross between CK and Medieval Total War II.

Just downloaded the most recent EUIII patch which wiped all my (incomplete) saved games. Sad

I finally got Eu3. It crashes a lot but I'm having a lot of fun.

Any tips for new players?

So, a while back I linked to the Hohenzollern thread on Something Awful?  Well, the same guy that did that, Wiz, has been/is running a heavily modified version of EU:Rome on Something Awful based on democratic voting by the thread's readers.

http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3257534

We are the glorious Democratic Republic of Crete, which is...well...

Allied with Carthage and Pontus, but our alliance is currently losing a war with Rome, Egypt, Celtiberi, and Numidia (poor old Carthage is getting slaughtered).

Got Vicky 2-playing as the USA. It's 1858 and I've annexed Hawaii and Texas and have about a third of Latin America in my sphere, though I don't plan to take California, Arizona, etc. until I finish the Civil War.

You post on SA, Mikado? What's your username? (I don't post but I have been lurking that Crete thread from time to time, Purple heart populists)

Patter Song.

If you've been lurking in Crete, you'll recognize me pretty quickly, I think.  Tongue

Well, it's Thanksgiving, I'm full, the wife and boys are down for naps, and I've been drinking my homebrew stout, good bourbon, and now sake.

Sounds like the perfect time to start an EU3 game! Cheesy

There's a new EU3 expansion focusing on Asia apparently. Sounds interesting. It also updated the graphics; the map looks a lot nicer now.

I believe I started two around the same time from the earliest date available with The Grand Campaign (1350?). One as France, and one as Castille. Still playing each on rare occassion I find the time.
