A cool map I made counting terms since 1945 in 4 year blocks by the party winning the term, so deaths and such aren't messing it up. Green is for a tie. Current governors count as a whole term as of their last election. Shades starting at 30% mean the difference in terms each party has won is only one, increasing by increments of one for each tone darker up to 90%, which is a difference of seven or more. I hope this hasn't been done before but the results are pretty interesting. Any thoughts?

There's some more evidence that the states parties are lagging behind in the national realignment.  The presidential map just shows Republican dominance (as a whole) in the past half-century.

Oregon, Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, Delaware, and Connecticut are the only FF's on these maps.

States where one party has won four straight gubernatorial elections:

New Hampshire has two-year terms
Rhode Island has an Independent Governor, but has 5 straight non-Democratic governor elections
