Also of note: Tong, who I noted earlier as a Lieberman supporter, is outraising the hopelessly incompetent Bysiewicz these days. Still, the anti-Washington rhetoric won't make a dent in Chris Murphy.

Scott, who are you supporting? I know who Homely was supporting but I'm curious if anyone else is in the Murphy camp besides myself.

This is great! McMahon is set to announce next week and will be raising outside money. I guess $50 million is too much to spend on another loss if it is her own money.

The question is: What outside interest group would be interested in donating to McMahon?

Liberal interest groups who want to help Murphy.

Is there any chance Rell might make a run for the seat?

Jodi Rell has had a lengthy and distinguished career in the Governor's Mansion and in the State House. She recently celebrated her sixty-fifth birthday and likely sees no advantage in risking all the marbles on a Senate seat against a powerhouse Democrat like Murphy.

you wrote that in the tone of her personal PR assistant.  bizarre.

McMahon leads Shays 50-35 in Quinnipiac's poll. Her favorables are an awful 38/45.
Murphy leads 36-26 over Bysiewicz in the primary and 49-38 over McMahon in the general.

The other general election numbers that got left out:

McMahon v. Bysiewicz: 38-46

Shays v. Bysiewicz: 42-40

Shays v. Murphy: 37 - 43

Good for him (and Murphy!).

Whatever the result, the Senate will be much better off with Lieberman, Lugar, and McCain out of it. Hopefully they all soon join Spector in retirement or being primaried. It's one thing to be bipartisan, but all of those politicians I named are opportunists, who deliberately have no political spine because they want to win praise from the media. They aren't even in states that are hostile to their respective parties where they would need to be moderate like Brown, Collins, and Snowe are.

I guess the best news out of the race is that McMahon has a chance to implode before the primary date, and Shays is much more moderate and electable than Simmons was.

Yes. They treat the Senate like their country club instead of the political body it is. They don't represent any more, they live off the names they built for themselves and can no longer live up to.

Nonfactor William Tong has dropped out of the Democratic Primary for US Senate. He has endorsed guaranteed winner Chris Murphy.

Well, it ain't Susie.

Tong was doomed from the start - maybe he'll run in CT-04 if Himes is eventually defeated.
