Donald Trump has all-but-officially removed himself from consideration for the presidency, and Sarah Palin remains in the "I might enter if I so desire" category. PPP shows how badly either would do -- not against President Obama but against fringe Congressman Dennis Kucinich:

It is sad that anyone would pick Palin or Trump over lil' Dennis.

Kucinich probably has significantly lower name recognition than either of those two, right? Normally this would bring down a candidate's numbers, but it's possible that Kucinich is considered "Generic D" by a lot of people who wouldn't actually vote for him if they knew more. Similarly to how Ron Paul polls quite well against Obama when in reality he'd almost certainly lose in a landslide.

Maybe the pollster could have used the name "John Kerry". But the general pattern is the same: Americans do not trust known gadflies or cranks.
