PPP surveyed 1,098 Washington voters from May 12th to 15th. The margin of error for the survey is +/-3.0%. This poll was not paid for or authorized by any campaign or political organization. PPP surveys are conducted through automated telephone interviews.

PPP is a Democratic polling company, but polling expert Nate Silver of the New York Times found that its surveys in 2010 actually exhibited a slight bias toward Republican candidates.

Dino would possibly earn the distinction of being the first person to ever lose a general election to the Governor and both Senators of a state.

John Raese has lost elections to Jay Rockefeller, Robert Byrd, and Joe Manchin, and even though they were all Senate races Manchin was Governor at the time that Raese lost to him. Still somehow less pathetic-seeming than the prospect of Rossi losing all three top-tier statewide elections in his state (in the case of the one of the offices twice), though.

So can we void the Elway poll showing Cantwell with pretty poor approval numbers that came out a couple of weeks ago?

You can void all Elway polls.

Considering that Obama running should increase Democratic turnout, Maria Cantwell is pretty safe with these numbers. It's obviously still early, but this one can be counted as Safe D barring some genuinely bizarre developments.

Similar question for OR, but will the GOP ever win a statewide race here again?

Yes. Oregon would have voted for a Republican governor last year if Smith or Walden had been the nominee. Dudley lost by a very small margin, which probably could have been overcome had he had some experience in the state legislature or in some other political office before running. Even as a neophyte candidate he still did extremely well, so there is hope that with a larger bench of potential candidates after the 2010 elections, Oregon Republicans will be able to be competitive in 2014. Washington I will begin to doubt if McKenna loses, but even then voters will eventually get fed up enough with one party control.

Oh, and if either Dider or Dino come back, we can always bring this back up too, but cross out Patty Murray in put in Cantwell.  Wink

Is she yet another case of done absolutely nothing for years now, but the other party is just such a joke that by default, she can't be replaced?

This is the type of work which is ignored by the national media -- but it is noticed locally.

I'm not hugely familiar with her but hasn't she been really involved in passing some of the newer financial regulatory laws as well?

Cantwell is one of the hardest working members of the Senate. Do a little research.

It looks like she is still talking about it and still has concerns.  From July 21, 2011:
