Timothy Johnson is not moderate, just a mainstream conservative. I've heard he may run in the vote sink, it certainly would be more feasible than running in a D+1.

There is no incumbent in IL-11 and that district basically takes in the most heavily Democratic areas of DuPage, Kane and Will. Even in 2004, it clearly would have voted for Kerry and probably voted for Gore as well. That seat is gone for Republicans, no spin about it.

It actually didn't get more Republican, but slightly more Democratic.

Anyone know which one?

Tim Johnson. In return, Republicans cut his district in their alternative map.

Harriman dropped out for health reasons and the Republican candidate is not that great at all. The district was barely moved in redistricting, in fact it's slightly more Democratic.

I sort of doubt Democrats were afraid of this

Plummer is not a great candidate, but I suppose that's a matter of opinion for some.
