Maine passed a Proposition 8-style referendumb the year after California did. Has there been a lawsuit yet? If not, why not? There needs to be.

But the legislature had already voted on it. You don't get to vote to take away somebody's rights. The whole idea of inalienable rights is that they can't be voted away.

The difference with Kentucky (and many other states) is that the legislature didn't recognize these rights beforehand. But in Maine they did. What happened in Maine is almost identical to what happened in California.
