Will the senate consider the following proposal, The Caribbean Statehood Act:
Since we have someone registered from PR now, it's time to reconsider this:

The Caribbean Statehood Act
1. A 51st state shall be admitted into Atlasia, called Puerto Rico.
2. The state of Puerto Rico shall consist of the current Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and Navassa Island.
3. The state of Puerto Rico shall be part of the Southeastern Region.
4. The state of Puerto Rico shall be placed into the current District 4, though it can be moved around accordingly during redistricting.

You know that there is absolutely no time to debate or vote on this, right?

Statehood for Puerto Rico: good

Making other random territories part of Puerto Rico: bad

Who's registered from Puerto Rico?

This bill sucks.  We already have enough minorities in the South as it is.

Given that Puerto Rico is roughly 80% white, I don't think it would tack on a disproportionate amount of minorities.

Beyond the fact that this will never have time to go throught the motions, there are the following problems with this bill:

1. The only way to change the composition of the Regions is by Constitutional Amendment.
2. The only way to change the composition of the Districts between Governor's redistricting is by Constitutional Amendment.

Actually, the constitution doesn't mention adding new states.  So I say we give it a go.  But I suppose we could also have a constitutional amendment that concerns adding new states.

I support Puerto Rican statehood, but I don't think this is the right time to debate it.

Well, there's little time left for me, and this has been a big thing for me for months.

I completely support statehood for Puerto Rico but I do not support it if the Virgin Islands are also given statehood. I believe that the Virgin Islands are not ready for statehood at this time and adding a majority black English speaking island group to a state that has a majority who are White Spanish Speakers would probably lead to trouble down the road, possibly calls from Virgin Islanders that they are being dominated by Puerto Ricans.

Also I think a referenda should be added to this bill. Puerto Rico should have a referenda on statehood and the Virgin Islands should also have a referenda that would include Commonwealth status as well.

Other than those two things I support this bill and wish that you had proposed it earlier since I would love to see Puerto Rico become the 51st state.

I did, and it failed.

The Caribbean Statehood Act would be unconstitutional as 10 states per region is the max...

the constitutional amendment skirts that.  we'd have to pass the New States Amendment first

Out of curiosity, as you messaged them to register, did you equally request they register from Puerto Rico (Not insinuating anything, just curious).

Anyway, the guy registered from Puerto Rico is a rude and abusive nutcase, I think the label of troll fits him well, I don't think we should change things for his sake.
