Yes he should.

Howard beat him in the "preffered PM" option in polls by an average of 12 points. If he were to take on a more popular Liberal leader(Costello) the ALP would be crushed.

absolutely.

and Crean should be put back in-he is a familiar, boring face like Howard, and I think to beat the rat the ALP must provide something at least a little similar.

BTW, Liberal Party internal polling showed that whilst Crean would've lost the election also, it would have been a lot closer and the senate might'nt have swung.
