This sounds like an attempt to supress the vote of the poor uneducated.

The poor uneducated shouldn't be voting. They don't contribute anything to government, and will 90% of the time just vote for welfare.

That's sick

I agree. It's sick that these people are actually able to vote.

Not everyone could be born rich like you.

You aren't rich? Then you wouldn't be able to vote if you were 18.

What does George Washington have to do with anything

Uh, yes, I would.

Did you read this topic? We're talking about making voters take a test to make sure they know basic facts, such as who the first president is.

Alcon said that would be surpressing the poor, uneducated vote, to which I responded, they have no business voting. If someone can't name George Washington, I don't trust him with my liberty.

You said the poor shouldn't vote. I don't care what Alcon said.

And if the poor and uneducated couldn't vote then Bush would have lost in a landslide. The poor uneducated people of the south are his biggest supporters.

For all I know you could be making those figures up. It's a well known fact that Bush is strongly supported by poor whites in the south.

If you don't believe the figures, go look them up yourself. It's a well known fact that Bush is strongly supported by the upper class, whereas Kerry is strongly supported by the lower class.

And for a few minutes I thought Philip didn't support fascism. Oh well.

I don't. That's why I'm speaking out against the fascist theft of property by an uneducated minority.

If someone doesn't know who the first president is, or doesn't know the incumbent president. They should not have the right to cast a ballot. And yes Julien, those numbers Philip gave were the accurate exit polls from Alabama a southern state.

No, the voting requirements shouldn't be raised.  And the poor (even if they're uneducated) have every right to vote, even if they don't vote the way Republicans want them to.  I'm not sure about illiteracy; I know that blind people can have their ballots read to them, and I think the same goes for the illiterate.  Not all illiterates are dumb or uneducated.  Some have serious problems like dyslexia, but are otherwise perfectly intelligent.

Right, uneducated people all vote for Democrats and are fascist thieves.

Hey, since you like exit polls so much, let's look at some others:

BushKerry
No High School (4%)
[/b]
49%50%
H.S. Graduate (22%)
[/b]
52%47%
Some College (32%)
[/b]
54%46%
College Graduate (26%)
[/b]
52%46%
Postgrad Study (16%)
[/b]
44%55%

Oops, nope, sorry, all except for the most educated people in America (who voted in favor of Kerry) are split enough to be within or very nearly within the margin of error.  Try again.

If someone doesn't know who the first president is, or doesn't know the incumbent president. They should not have the right to cast a ballot.

Someone can have a very shaky grasp of history and that would not necessarily impact his or her ability to understand policy in any way.

Not knowing who the incumbent president is, however, may be kind of a bad thing, but I feel that it would be erring on the side not in favor of freedom to restrict someone from voting purely on that basis.

Maybe the government should only give voting rights to the well informed, free speech to those who speak eloquently, and life to those who deserve it.  Maybe we should only allow those who have a doctorate to vote.

No, it's missing the part about white male landowners.

What's with the color change J-Mann?

FMC has been away for awhile so make sure you clarify your statements about Philip so he doesn't think it's me.

Yeah, I knew you were joking.

The sad thing is that I have a feeling Philip might agree with you, however...

I've been reading too many posts from Republicans Wink  Occasionally I get disgusted...it's not a permenant switch.
