With more candidates finally getting in or at least talking about making a decision soon, I guess now would be a good time to do one of these.

My picks:

1) Rick Santorum - Won't change as long as he's in the race. It's a loyalty thing.

2) Tim Pawlenty

3) Jon Huntsman

Perry will move into the second or third spot if he decides to run. Christie would definitely move into the second spot if he changes his mind.

You accidentally didn't make this a poll. Sad

I'm interested in hearing the answers though, because it seems like you all hate at least half the candidates, which wasn't really the case for either party in 2008.

Didn't want one. This forces people to actually answer as opposed to just voting in a poll.  Wink

Romney by default at the moment. I would have given a stronger look into Pawlenty, but his whole "just google it" metric for government services thing was facepalm worthy. Huntsman is an interesting prospect as a candidate as well, but I don't really know much about him. Other than that, it's pretty limp field. Gingrich is scary...but probably as far down the rabbit hole of crazy I would go. Voting for Bachmann, Palin, or Cain is out of the question.

Loosely, Mittens.

GOP Congress will keep his dark side in check.

Well, since I registered Republican (I'm a fairly reliable GOP vote though I consider myself independent)...

1.  Gary Johnson (heart)
2.  Jon Huntsman (head)
3.  Ron Paul (wild hair)

Most of the rest won't get me to the polls, though I suspect Heather Wilson will take care of that little problem (unless the retard right-wingers here demand that dullard John Sanchez or some other "true" ("unelectable") conservative).

My signature is my ideal possible reality.  Gary isn't possible but he's what I'd like.

Ron Paul will receive my vote. I think of it as a last gesture of gratitude for one of the men to get me really interested in politics( The other two were Santorum and Bush, and let's just say my political philosophy has changed since then.) And I am a more of a nonintervensonist, so that's one big reason he retains my support.   My only wish is that he does better than he did in 2008. A semi low bar for success, so I should be happy. (Registered independent, but I can vote in the R primary in MA)

Ron Paul and Gary Johnson are the only ones I'd consider deserving of my support.  Since I both like Paul more and his campaign has gotten far more traction than Johnson, I'll almost certainly be voting for him.

Jon Huntsman is the only Republican candidate I would consider supporting in the general election, and the one I support in the Republican primary. His record as governor of Utah shows that he is a successful technocrat, and his political positions show that he is pragmatic, which are two of the three attributes I most look for in a presidential candidate (the other being personal integrity, of course).

I would be most likely to support Romney right now.  I can see Huntsman as a possible alternative, but I don't expect him to last long when (I assume he will because the News tells me he will Tongue) he declares.

Bachmann, Cain, Santorum, and a candidate Palin, are 100% no right now.  I can get behind some of the ideas Paul and Johnson have, but voting for Paul (who I'd imagine will be the last L standing) over say, Romney, isn't likely.  If anyone of significance declares, my opinion could certainly be changed.

All things considered, I think I would vote for Ron Paul.  Gary Johnson would be a close second, however.  Unlike 2008, I will actually have to think about my vote.

Jon Huntsman, followed by Mitt Romney. I am really fond of Gary Johnson as well, though he unfortunately is not gaining any traction. If he were to, I'd place him slightly below Huntsman but above Romney.

Since I want someone who can actually defeat Barack Obama, the choice is clear

Mitt Romney

1) Rick Santorum - Won't change as long as he's in the race. It's a loyalty thing.

I can appreciate that.

I feel the same way about my candidate.

1. Paul (the time for his ideas have come to have the reigns of power)
2. Cain/Bachamann (in the event of the Dr. withdrawing I'd look at these two carefully)
4. Palin (if she's in)
5. Pawlenty (get some fire in the soul)
6. Santorum (moderate some of the foreign policy issues and we'll talk)

Mitt, Newt, and Perry will not receive my support and a Mitt nomination will have me leave the GOP

1.  Romney
2.  Huntsman
3.  Pawlenty

I've been alternating between the three from week-to-week.

I want to support Perry, but his "National Day of Prayer" gimmick really turns me off.

2. Santorum
3. Pawlenty

If Perry gets in, he goes to second, if not my first choice.

I just found out about Huntsman's decision to change his tune on the war in Afghanistan. Not exactly the most encouraging news.

Pawlenty goes off the list if Perry gets in, and Bachmann drops down to third. I would still lean to Romney, but Perry would be my second choice.

Somehow I doubt Lennon would have been a big Ron Paul fan.

Ron Paul
Gary Johnson
Jon Huntsman

I would not vote for Romney, Bachmann, Cain, Palin, Perry, Gingrich, Santorum, Bolton, or Giuliani in the general. With those candidates, we might as well let the Dems take the credit for the dismal state of the country. If Romney or Palin win the primary, I'm leaving the party. Libertarian or indy, I guess.

I'm on the fence with Pawlenty, but it is unlikely that I would vote for him. I would likely make up my mind in the next few debates.

Paul. (I'm a reg'd R for now and will stay that way until at least La's primary (which as of now will cost the state half of its delegates to both Republicratic Conventions).)
