Hey guys how about we don't jump to judgements so quick again? Let us just see how this thing plays out.

Best comment I've heard.

I want to see what the physical evidence says.

Another thing to note is that the victim's lawyer (Thompson) seems pretty desperate. Yesterday he was accusing the prosecutor of mistreating her in order to convince her to renounce to her accusation. So the possibilities are two, either there is a massive conspiracy to save DSK (involving the prosecution) or Thompson knows the case is empty and is using the popular mood as his last chance.

Bit late to "save" DSK. Mission's accomplished, he's been removed from the IMF.

He was going to resign this month to run for president, so I doubt that the powers to be went into such great lengths to hasten his departure by a mere 40 days.

OK. Doesn't change the opinions I had the entire time about him or the case really, though. I do admit I thought it more likely that he was guilty than innocent...but that's fine. He was treated correctly and it now appears that the prosecution isn't convinced of its case. Everything seems like it's working like it should.

If he would make a beeline to France, where they can't extradite him back, charges would have been dropped totally, I believe.

So you think that elites should be able to get away with treating the less well off however they damn-well please?  That DSK has done so several times in his past is precisely why the rape accusation was so believable.

No, he hasn't done anything.  He's merely been accused.  These sort of false accusations are commonplace, as well as almost unprovable to any standard I would consider a reasonable doubt.

Quoting a well-placed law enforcement official, the paper reported on Friday that in particular, prosecutors were alarmed by a phone call the woman made within 28 hours of the alleged assault to a jailed boyfriend in Arizona.

The call was recorded but it was in a special dialect of the Guinean language of Puli. When the translation was finally completed on Wednesday, prosecutors were alarmed, the paper said.

"She says words to the effect of, 'Don't worry, this guy has a lot of money. I know what I'm doing,'" the paper quoted the official as saying.

I've refered to this call several times, but nobody seemed to be interested.

I think they took his passport and forbid him from leaving, so he'd have to be creative in how he gets out

My sentence was unclear......what I meant was, for almost anyone else the charges might have been dropped, then re-filed if necessary.  In his case, if they're dropped, he'll get his passport back and he's gone for good.

NY Post says Vance may well drop the charges very soon.
Maybe a meeting between DSK's lawyers and Vance's aides tomorrow.

Well, at least the talks about "delaying the time limits for candidacy for PS primaries" will cease.

It's starting to sound like perhaps there is a larger story behind this case.

At least to me?

Well, for many it sounded like this on the day of the arrest.

Well we are talking about a French electorate.  Wink

And do remember that I am half French.

Yeah, it's the end.

Props to all the proud fighters for the Just Cause, the tabloid press, and all the people who just knew he was guilty. The mediatic justice has done a great job as usual.

I suppose all the "guilty until proven innocent" folks will apologize and admit they were wrong now, right? ...right?
