Let me just say that while I am a fan of Berlusconi, I don't think he is exactly the cleanest politician in Europe.

He got off on a technicality. Typical. He probably bribed the Judges who were trying him on bribary charges...

Mind you it's not like he's the first Italian P.M to be on the fiddle...

Actually, he wasn't cleared.
He was cleared on a technicality on one charge.
On the second charge, he was deemed to be guilty as hell, but again on a technicality, it was deemed that the time limit to put him to jail for it had expired.
