Let's have some more political analysis from the Wisest of the Wise Soothsayers:

The GOP had better nominate Mitt Romney, or the Beehive State might be shaky for a Republican nominee. Utah has some Democrats, and those would probably be enough to defeat several of those nominees.

I know the year is still young, but the Michael A. Naso Institute of Comedy is proud to award pbrower with the prestigious 2011  OVERDOSE AWARD. Congratulations, pbrower, and best luck to you next year in scoring the three-peat!

If the economy turns out to be gay, then maybe divine intervention here can kill two birds with one stone!

Call me odd, but I treat polls with a sample size of under 1000 people as little more then fun numbers.  Pbrower's map is a fairly good indicator of why.

Statistics do not work that way.

Opinion surveys of highly ideological public figures do.

This statement is literally the equivalent of doubting if the Earth is spherical.

If our economy is gay, then it's a little too close to Canada's economy for my comfort.

Eh...everyone knows Canada is a bottom.  No problem.

Somebody hasn't looked at a map recently.  Hopefully Alaska would get a reach around.

All I can tell you is that the head moderator of swingstateproject.com has returned to his board after negotiations with Nym90, apparently waving a piece of white paper, announcin

Christ.  I'm going to stop typing this right now.  It was starting to read like something by Kalwejt.

Still not sure if he was being serious about this...

Keep in mind that I know the Mormon voter really well because many of my close friends are Mormons. I understand this community. Have you even met a Mormon before?

I don't know, but neither it nor his responses were humorous.

The only difference between the two is that things are not looking up for Obama. In fact, there's a chance things will get worse. He has the luxury of the GOP running a bunch of crazies that he could beat with a 40% approval rating on election day.

No President gets reelected with a 40% approval rating.
Prove it.

Counter-proof: Harry S. Truman. His approval ratings, not surprisingly, went north and south with the position of the UN forces in Korea in a frontal war with clear advances and setbacks, not to mention the prospect at one point of utter defeat. The last Gallup poll for him (September) showed his Presidency on the brink of defeat. Gallup quit publishing polls that month out of a concern that such polls might influence the results.

You do remember the headline of the Chicago Tribune:

DEWEY WINS

Some people were very confident that Harry Truman would lose  -- big -- having been such an abject failure. There was even a song made for the occasion:

Congratulations! Tom Dewey.
You won by a landslide today
Through thick and through thin
We knew you would win
'Cause who'd ever vote
To let Truman stay in!
Congratulations, Tom Dewey
Your republican dreams have come true!
Here's a victory roar
For President Number Thirty-Four!
The White House is waiting for you!

Election Day 1948 was an abject disaster for Republicans. Truman was gaining on the Republicans throughout the early autumn of 1948, and a bunch of Republican Congressmen elected in 1946 were defeated. The only big positive for the Republicans was that they held an open seat in Michigan with a young lawyer named Gerald Ford.

Overwhelmingly positive.

The rest of you guys who bash joke religions are the worst sort of people on this planet.  You are everything that is wrong with this world.  I would hope for your sake that you ask forgiveness from the Flying Spaghetti Monster lest Bob Marley decides you should spend your afterlife in a 1980's crime movie.

He's taking credit (if you really want to call it "credit"), for a joke that has been twisted to mock him. He views it as part of his "legacy" though.
