Phil, I've always heard that Naso said something about believing in Jesus Christ "of Latter Day Saints."  Is this true?

Call me odd, but I treat polls with a sample size of under 1000 people as little more then fun numbers.  Pbrower's map is a fairly good indicator of why.

Statistics do not work that way.

Opinion surveys of highly ideological public figures do.

This statement is literally the equivalent of doubting if the Earth is spherical.

Hi all,

I don't know about you, dazzleman, but I'm pretty tired of playing this game.

BRTD, Al: none of the other members besides the four of us actually exist.  Well, besides Dave of course but he barely counts.  I cannot honestly remember when this whole scheme actually began.  We just thought the two of you were such interesting people that it would be fun to create a whole string of posters for which you could interact.  I believe dazzle started it first with his "gay Brit self" in Peter and I later created afleitch.  It wasn't until later that we settled into our dazzleman and JSojourner personas as personal accounts, although we both now speak exclusively through our socks for obvious reasons.

It still amazes me how out of hand it has gotten. The early creations were more about conflict between our puppets, but now it's become a game of pure knockoffs with some more obvious than others.  You will find for every Coke product I made that dazzleman tried his hand at a Pepsi or vice versa.  We've both had our share of flops, too.  I suppose we made it too obvious over the past few years.  Why do you think things such as BushOK fandom and Mike Naso fandom rarely overlapped positively between the two character groups?  Socks protect each other and we fought.

Some notable examples:
(JS) = (DM)
aflietch and jmfcst (a classic old conflict attempt)
Bandit and CARLHAYDEN (more of a knockoff like the modern versions)
BushOK and Mike Naso
WalterMitty and opebo
Coburnin2012 and HoffmanJohn
pbrower and krazen
Flyers (retired and replaced with a broader, more straight man character in Lief) and Keystone Phil
Teddy and Rochambeau
Feeblepizza and GusChiggins
King and Joe Republic
Libertas and wormyguy
The Mikado and Gully Foyle
"Mr. Morden" (I was struggling for names) and Mr. Moderate
jfern and Sam Spade
TommyC1730 (flop) and GPORTER
Kalwejt and v0031
Xahar and benconstine
Gramps and Torie
Winston Disraeli and Mint
ConKiller and LBJ Revivalist
etc.
etc.
etc.

Sincerest apologies to the both of you for such a grand web of lies,

JSojourner

It has to be Nym.  I mean, it wouldn't make sense for anyone but the glorious leader to be the only one in color with clothes.

That's a thing of beauty.  I say we close the Institute as nothing it produces can possibly trump that.

Am I missing something?  Are discussions about religious attitudes to homosexuality not welcome in Religion & Philosophy any more?

Of course not, f****t.

EDIT:  Maybe this should be in the Sulfur Mine instead.

Rather than link the thread, I'll just link the video:

This is the best political speech of a generation.

Even if it's a scale issue, it's a pretty dramatic one.  I mean, Strausbourg is out hanging out with Stuttgart in that map.

Every time Snowguy posts about food, I get confused, then disgusted.

Funny you should mention Roger Scruton, as he actually makes sense, compared to Clive James (unless of course that was the point of the option).

The Religion and Philosophy board always maintains the highest standards!

(I'm actually upset that at least one American knows who those people are).

Believe me, I'm upset that I know that too.

Nathan is the best poster.

Dmitri, chowing down on nuts: "How did it go again?  Gott der Vater, Gott der Sohn... what was the last...urk..."
Alyosha, from behind with a bloody pestle: "Gott der Heilige Geist, brother."

But didn't Hegel tell us that thought moves through a cycle of thesis/antithesis/synthesis, where the synthesis takes elements of each of the preceding notions, in something akin to the following manner?  And did not Karl Marx dictate that, in addition to ideas, entire social and economic classes can and do operate in the same fashion, and that that is the base of history?

Thesis: Obnoxious Obama Hacks
Antithesis: Obnoxious Romney Hacks
Synthesis: 2012 Board

Simple dialectical materialism, the science of history.

Beautiful.

I knew you were going to Goldmine that when I was writing it.  I don't get why some people here say you're impossible to please, you're actually quite predictable.  It just requires writing jokes that go over the heads of 95% of people here.  Wink

It really is time for a new one, because these things are supposed to be short enough to be easily browseable after the fact and this one's way too big for said function.

Sadly, every time this thread gets put out of its misery, there's a colossal hissy fit, so whatever.
