Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will announce whether he's entering the 2012 presidential race "very soon," his New Hampshire spokesman told the Boston Globe. Wait, Giuliani has a New Hampshire spokesman? Politico's Maggie Haberman says the hire is more telling than the statement itself. America's Mayor will visit the Granite State Thursday and Friday, and will be announcing his campaign plans "shortly afterward."

Last week, a poll of New Hampshire voters had Giuliani tied for third place with Ron Paul, behind Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann. In 2008, Giuliani staked his whole campaign on Florida, spent $50 million and was soundly defeated. But this year several Republican candidates--Jon Huntsman, Mitt Romney--are making Florida a bigger part of their campaign.

The 10th anniversary of 9/11 is coming up, so he thinks he has a platform and a chance to win.

9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11 9/11

The 10 anniversary of 9/11. My mother 9/11. My cross dress 9/11. The Yankees 9/11.  My dick 9/11.

What was the old joke?  Everything he says is noun + verb + 9/11?

I am hoping he will run, I think hopefully he has learned his lesson from 2008. I will vote for him if he is still around for the NC primary

So, is this, like, potentially for real? Rudy might actually run again when he has even less of a constituency or basis to do so then last time?

Or is he simply rolling out the carpet for a "dignified decline" to the prospect?

Rudy confuses me. A friend in NY said the buzz is he's definitely running, but I assume if he does, he'll go all out in NH and skip Iowa entirely. I also could see him focusing more on his record at NYC mayor than 9/11. At least, I hope he does.

Wow, he must really need the money, a book deal, or a TV show because he needs to look in the mirror and realize that a pro-abortion, pro-gun control, pro-immigration, pro-gay rights, nyc liberal will never win the GOP nomination.  Even if he managed to win NH, he will get creamed in SC and even Florida.

He is more likely to start a "Republicans for Obama" group than to win any Republican primary.

About a month or two ago, someone in the Giuliani camp suggested that he might announce his decision by mid-July.  Well, now he's saying "by September":

Does September count as "very soon"?

I guess we all know which September day he'll announce something.

Hm... so if he takes away 10-15% away from Romney in NH does that open up the door for Bachmann to take both Iowa and NH?

or perhaps RON PAUL!!>1!11!!!

If Giuliani runs, he'll apparently sink everything into New Hampshire:

Rudy must really hate Romney. It's great.

At least he'll pick a better stand to have his first and last stand in. I'm not sure who I'd support in the event he runs. I love Rudy. I love what he did for NY and his track record as a public official. I'd have a hard time supporting him if he was onlt siphoning votes off Romney and enabling Bachmann to win the nomination though. I'd have to monitor this, but it does seem like he's about to run.

I'm sure he'll get far with his strident pro-choice stand.

As much as I'd love to see this open up New Hampshire for a Bachmann win, it's still difficult to see something like that happening. Even Huckabee only got 11% there.
