In 2008, one of the reasons that Obama won in so many states that hadnīt voted for Kerry or Gore was his massive drive to register new voters.

I however am not sure about registration of new voters since 2008. Does anyone have any data about the changes in registered voters by state over the last several election cycles, hopefully from 2004 or 2006 on?

Reason being that in states like CO, NM and NV, Republicans REALLY need to register alot of new voters to counteract the huge amount of new Dems registered during the `08 campaign. How close did they get in ī10? Was that more a result of old Republicans simply turning out and Dems staying home, or were there lots of new Republicans registered as well?
