Although I almost never agreed with him, I'm going to kind of miss Lepper. He was a colorful figure of the Polish political scene since I just remember.

RIP.

I remember him, yeah. Article hints that he may have topped himself.

It's not officially confirmed yet, but everything is pointing out he hanged himself. Surprising, considering that he was trying very hard to make a comeback after 2007.

Sad
RIP: he was indeed very colourful.

Considering current poll ratings, it won't change anything in next elections, I guess.

Naturally, but he seemed pretty determined to hang on in politics. However, for a man as ambitious as him, being in a political vacuum for years, with no visible hope, must been really hard.

Also, it's reported that his son is gravely ill. Considering it all, I can believe in suicide.

Anyway, some may say Lepper was a living symbol of the 1990s-mid 2000s Polish politics and it's rocky road. Maybe in a wrong way, but he is a historical figure already.

Death to moronic copywriters!

The party of course rose to prominance in the years before the entry into the EU (though partly through opposition to a whore-yourself-out-to-the-west course) ... and petered out partly thanks to the strong economic growth of recent years.

Yes.

Oh, and ironic thing is that Samoobrona actually endorsed accession during 2003 referendum. And that development of the Polish rural areas following joining the EU really hurt them.

So is the English wiki wrong, or is it your memory?

Can't read Polish; German and Italian versions don't say, French is evidently a translation of the English text. That footnote is a dead link to some German uni text, which makes me think that it may well be the wiki that's wrong...

From major parties, only LPR called to vote "no". Wiki must be wrong.

My memory's fine. Not so long ago, I've been doing some research for my friend, who was writing his thesis on EU referendum.

I think the wording is just confusing; it doesn't mean to say that the party actually endorsed No, just that the political tendencies in the party pushed it in that direction.
