Too late.  He'd be another Fred Thompson/Wesley Clark non-starter.

Thompson was a major candidate even though he screwed his entrance as bad as Gingrich. Once he got in he just didn't try and thought the campaign would come to him. He did in fact lead in national and state-wide polls in the summer of 07.
