I actually think it may be Unconstitutional for the government to regulate marriage if it is not about forcing a man to financially support his biological children.

Basically, the government has no right regulating what gay couples can and cannot do.
People need to be free, and gay people need to be free from government oversight and enforcement.
If the government regulates gay marriage, then it would have to enforce gay monogamy.  In some cases, the government may choose to make gay adultery illegal.  The government may imprison gay people for gay marriage fraud.

Getting marriage benefits is not a right.  No person has a right to be subsidized by the government.  Every government agreement is a quid pro quo.  Biological marriage enforces a man to financially support his wife and child.  Biological marriage is anti-bigamy.  That is why it is regulated by the government, because the government (and married women) do not want men running around impregnating every woman in sight and have millions of bastard children.

There is no Constitutional reason that says that gay people need to be married to gay people in order to have sexual relations or impregnate each other (which they can't).
The government should not and cannot play a role in regulating the private lives and financial lives of gay people.
America is about freedom, and each person should advocate less government programs and regulations and not more.

When did the GOP start being out-classed by the Democratic Party? The GOP is supposed to be about professionalism.

I had to turn it off. He's completely full of it, and I am starting to believe some folks are right when they say that he's a closet socialist.

Why didn't he address social issues 😡
Because the economy is in the sh**tter?
I'm aware the economy isn't doing so hot but if he would address ending abortion the economics would improve.

Did we get these?

1) Rand Paul is about to become an American folkhero.

2) The Obama administration knows they are completely screwed and are, probably, scheming as best they can to delay his release past the evening news hour.

3) A Federal Court order to release him just might be issued before the news hour.

Good for Rand. This should help Ron out a little bit.

The North meanwhile has fewer Protestants than the South and plenty of academics who like to boss people around and think they know what's best for everyone.

Charming.

Great, another referendum that will end up a narrow loss and disappointment.

They need 3/5 in both houses to even get referenum status for an amendment. After moaning and groaning and whining about how GOP legislatures were focused on social issues its very funny to see this legislature try to push their wedge issue and insult people of faith.

There's something really viscerally sickening about this particular post for some reason I can't quite put my finger on.

The people of Cuba are not free. It is important to put pressure on Cuba to adopt free markets and democratic institutions.

The level of ignorance and bigotry on this board is truly astounding.

Criticize a public figure all you want for his political views, but don't delve into matters which obviously you know nothing about.

There's idiocy and then there's MBD...

Again, if the vote is so close as was the case in Iowa, it's a tie and they should settle it with a coin flip. The same was the case with Al Franken in Minnesota

Don't determine the winner based on who actually won the vote; do a coin flip!

In the thread about Santorum's ill daughter:

Good thing they didn't abort her.

I think one thing good about being pro-life is that you can try to save a child's life whenever possible, even in the womb.  If someone is in a position to save the lives of embryo's then why not try to do it?
I don't know how much these pro-life groups spend on adoption services or foster care or battered women's shelters, but there's something to be said about preserving life.

Eh...we real, sane men don't have "crushes" on strangers on the internet. That's just you.

I just never found it funny nor civilized to laugh at other peoples' disabilities. I guess a good Christian like you disagrees with that?

It is no coincidence that pretty much every white group votes Republican.

Democrats are racist.

Do you recognize this and not care, or do you not even see it?

Racism, as a social system, is prejudice with the backing of privilege. Non-white groups tend not to have privilege in this country, to put it mildly.

Racism as an individual attitude in individual voting choices, which is what the original post was referring to, doesn't require a backing of privilege. Just prejudice.

That isn't racism. Just prejudice. Racism is structural, especially as applied to voting blocs. Individualism in politics is illusory anyway, and not just at the racial/ethnic level. The idea that the Democratic Party is in the business of systematically dog-whistling against white people is absolutely laughable.

That's not what the Democrats themselves concluded after the Reagan landslides, since those were brought up. Stan Greenberg concluded in 1985 that Reagan dominated among working class white Democrats such as those in Macomb County due to the perception that the Democratic party was prioritizing others over them and treating them and their values as secondary.

Of course, the Democrats can't mistreat all whites or they would never win. So, they merely picked a chosen few, such as academics from Massachusetts, and systematically insult the rest. No wonder they vote the way they do.

This guy is quite entertaining.

About Santorum's dying daughter:

I don't.  Obviously there have been herculean and expensive efforts put in to pro long this child's life well past what nature intended.  You have to wonder how much we tax payers and private insurance buyers are paying to foot the bill for a child who according to medical literature probably has "an IQ too low to measure."  If you don't believe in abortion under any circumstance this is the type of thing you have to deal with and the type of burden you put on the already strained resources of society.  Seems a little selfish to me.  Particularly when you are a politician that would quite comfortably deny affordable health care to other able bodied tax paying citizens.  You know just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

At some point in America we are going to have to understand we can't have everything we want and we are going to have to deal with some sad things.

Santorum... $1 million for any viable ball of cells that makes in out of the uterus alive (assuming you are rich enough to pay the insurance premium)
Gingrich... Moon colony
Romney... 100s of air craft carries and B-2 bombers
Ron Paul... non of the above unless you want to pay out of your own pocket.

FYI I hope this piece of work Santorum sent Obama a thank you card for his health plan that prevents private insurares from denying his child coverage.

You mean its about a Romanian guy taking over the world via the UN and subsequently causing genocide after genocide...split hairs, why doncha...
Yeah, but thats Biblically based.  Doesnt mean the guy is gonna be Romanian necessarily, but most certainly the EU or UN will be involved and the genocide will occur.
