Good God, I really don't want to see him trounced in the general- but he's quite a bad debater and then he has to come out and practically admit it!

This is exactly how we want everybody talking going into the first debate with Obama.

You guys don't think Romney mailed in a bad performance the other night because he wanted to do well, do you? And you don't think the 12-15 good performances before the other night were just a fluke, do you?

Remember: Things aren't always what they seem...

There is no other explanation for his rejection of the Keystone XL pipeline:

The Obama Administration rejected the controversial Keystone XL pipeline project on Wednesday, scuttling a key energy initiative that would have created an influx of badly-needed  U.S. jobs, but one that has also riled environmentalists.

Obama was under heavy pressure on a number of fronts on the Keystone pipeline as Republicans pointed to the need to create jobs and lower gasoline prices while others worried about the project’s environmental consequences.

"By declaring that the Keystone pipeline is not in the ‘national interest,’ the President demonstrates a lack of seriousness about bringing down unemployment, restoring economic growth, and achieving energy independence," GOP presidential frontrunner Mitt Romney said in a statement.

Obama pandering to the green environmentalists.

What he says he is doing, and what he is actually doing are two different things. He says he is listening to environmentalists, but what he's really doing is pandering to Saudi Arabia and the rest of OPEC.

I'll certainly vote against it, but Miles, if you're on the fence, keep in mind that this amendment could jeopardize other unmarried relationships, and turn away prospective businesses.

Nope... That argument is used as a very common talking point, but there is absolutely no evidence that it occurred in the other 32 States that passed such Amendments.

Of course lying for Homosexuality is Alinsky 101.

The North meanwhile has fewer Protestants than the South and plenty of academics who like to boss people around and think they know what's best for everyone.

Charming.

It is no coincidence that pretty much every white group votes Republican.

Democrats are racist.

Do you recognize this and not care, or do you not even see it?

Racism, as a social system, is prejudice with the backing of privilege. Non-white groups tend not to have privilege in this country, to put it mildly.

Racism as an individual attitude in individual voting choices, which is what the original post was referring to, doesn't require a backing of privilege. Just prejudice.

That isn't racism. Just prejudice. Racism is structural, especially as applied to voting blocs. Individualism in politics is illusory anyway, and not just at the racial/ethnic level. The idea that the Democratic Party is in the business of systematically dog-whistling against white people is absolutely laughable.

That's not what the Democrats themselves concluded after the Reagan landslides, since those were brought up. Stan Greenberg concluded in 1985 that Reagan dominated among working class white Democrats such as those in Macomb County due to the perception that the Democratic party was prioritizing others over them and treating them and their values as secondary.

Of course, the Democrats can't mistreat all whites or they would never win. So, they merely picked a chosen few, such as academics from Massachusetts, and systematically insult the rest. No wonder they vote the way they do.

This guy is quite entertaining.

Mitt Romney, unfortunately, is a walking ad machine for the Democratic Party.
At the end of the day, the bottom 25% of Americans are deadweight.  It's true. The very poor will always have nothing and be leaches to taxpaying Americans.  That's not news

In the thread about Santorum's ill daughter:

Good thing they didn't abort her.

I think one thing good about being pro-life is that you can try to save a child's life whenever possible, even in the womb.  If someone is in a position to save the lives of embryo's then why not try to do it?
I don't know how much these pro-life groups spend on adoption services or foster care or battered women's shelters, but there's something to be said about preserving life.

There is something seriously fking wrong with that guy.

I don't get what's wrong with this. At all.

He brought politics into a thread about Santorum's daughter possibly dying.

There are a lot of bleeding hearts on here. I suspect age has a lot to do with it. As a wise man once put it:

If you're not a liberal at 20, you have no heart.
If you're not a conservative at 30, you have no brain.

"Registered Democrat."

He will be the competent president who made it morning in America again.

Are you getting paid to do this?

I believe in America.
I believe in Mitt Romney.

All right.  I'm literally laughing my ass off now.

Well, yes, all 3 are highly popular policies among the US electorate.

It's a little odd to describe them that way when one no longer enjoys majority support nationwide and another has to be pitched through immensely odd semantics to get the numbers that it does (one assumes, otherwise there would be very little reason to use the English language in such strange ways), but whatever.

Somewhere between -5 and -10 for gay marriage in Minnesota considering the (for better or worse) cultural reticence of many Iron Range Democrats seems reasonable to me at the time being. This poll just has somewhat higher undecideds than many so, of course, the support numbers are commensurately lower. If you split the undecideds it comes out to something like 45.3-54.7, which strikes me as a little on the low end but not outside the range of where I had perceived things as standing at this point in these sorts of states.

Given its long streak of 30+ successes at the polling booth it is very natural to describe the sanctity of traditional marriage as a popular policy. Dubious surveys are of course secondary to concrete actual electoral results.

Nothing particularly stupid about this post, I just really don't like this guy and I giggle at the use of the term "traditional marriage".

I will concede that 2006 was a bad year to be a Republican, but losing to a bald guy? That should not happen, ESPECIALLY if you are an incumbent who is one of the Senate's top three leaders.

Had to scratch my head at this one.

Yawn. Prince George's County will smack this down hard in a referendum. The sanctity of traditional marriage has performed excellently at the ballot box.

Every time a post has those two words together, it should be put into this thread.

Here is the response video, about something that happened less than six months before the 2002 Olympics:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPvi8sOGN5U

Wanting to ensure security and restore confidence in America with a successful 2002 Olympics? Shame on you, Mitt!

Stay classy.

I'm not the one badmouthing the most recent Olympics held in America, an event that helped restore some American confidence after the tragic events of 9/11. You want to talk about stimulating the economy, ensuring that the American Olympics are a success is a pretty good way to stimulate the economy after one of the most tragic events in American history!

Mitt helped the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City succeed. Democrats would have preferred to see the Olympics succeed somewhere in Europe instead.

The title of this thread is completely bogus.

Santorum said,

"When it comes to the management of the Earth, they are the anti-science ones. We are the ones who stand for science, and technology, and using the resources we have to be able to make sure that we have a quality of life in this country and (that we) maintain a good and stable environment,"

The title should read,

Santorum: "Democratic management of the Earth is anti-Science."

I would cite Democratic attitudes toward nuclear power, hydraulic fracking, and the Keystone pipeline as evidence for Santorum's contention.

Let's face it: Some of you just want to turn this place into the red-headed little step-brother of Democratic Underground.

This used to be a lot more bipartisan of a place. Now one of the last Republican moderators is being targeted for assassination? Inks is fair. You will be happy to know that nobody has been more on my case than him with regards to my trolling. I deserved a lot of it. Inks cares about this place and does not want to see it sink into irrelevance, which is what will happen if some liberals on here have their way. Truth be told, my so-called trolling in the 2012 forum was in response to all of the Obama hackery I have witnessed over the past couple of years, which was reaching levels of absurdity by this summer. I am glad the Obama hackery has finally taken a hit because this place is US Election Atlas, not US Democratic LaLa-Land. If I wanted to read a bunch of delusional Democratic ranting with the stifling of dissent, I would go to Democratic Underground. I am glad the tide is turning, and hopefully the trend will continue so this place can regain its past glory.

We're gingers, now?  Noooooooooo!!!!!

Absolutely serious - My first thought the moment the news broke of his death was that Breitbart was assassinated because of the threat to release the Obama college days videos at CPAC.  Unlike other conservative warriors, Breitbart was our best and most effective.  He broke ACORN and won us a special house election in a D+5 district in NYC with the Weiner scandal.  I hope the videos do as intended.

No because outside of the party, there is the real world where not everything is based on or revolves around government. I'm sick of hearing how government experience is a plus. Run the government and the country like a successful business and we'll do fine. Forget the leftwing talking points and just balance the budget and cut taxes even if it means cutting a few services. Unfortunately since FDR we've had the mentality on the left about how having government services is important but it has been overstated in order to make people dependent on the democratic party. Obama doesn't understand economic, have a clue how supply and demand works, and has never held a job in his life. Now he wants to tell my doctor what's what? This is the kind of thing that happens when you don't treat our government and budget like a business. If a business goes under from bad decision making, so should the ruling class or in this case democrats.

Sick of this troll's rhetoric.

Two good ones.

Politico, wouldn't it be cheaper to let China take care of the asteroid itself than to borrow the money from them just so that we could say we did it?

Who said we should do anything about the asteroid if it is not bound to hit anywhere near us, and the nation(s) that are in its path did not want to help pay for our efforts? Of course, we should still do it for the goodwill involved...

For the record, I'd be in favor of letting it hit Iran, North Korea, and Cuba.

Mitt Romney is going to reform Washington in the vision of Adam Smith.
