if not disrespectful (though he is the POTUS, guess he has the right to be a jerk), definitely unsportsmanlike and not very smart

If the GOP did this, you'd be declaring it a great political tactic.

I wouldn't be surprised if NBC doesn't air the speech actually. So much marketing and ad money goes into the first game of the year.

Boehner's office should tape every conversation with the White House. Now the WH says that they pre-cleared the Wednesday date with this office, and his office denies it. Somebody is "spinning."

What makes you so sure it's not the other side that's doing the spinning?

I've always felt that joint sessions of congress should be saved for SotU and monumental occasions, like Pearl Harbor or 9/11. I'd rather policy speeches be given from the Oval Office.
