Looks like Perry and Romney are doing about equally well in their home states. As to why PPP had to poll both of them in the same week instead of far more competitive states, I don't know.

I didn't know Romney have a home state.

I meant Massachusetts, which is the state he was elected in, which is typically what people are referring to when they say 'home state'. That said, Romney does seem to have quite a few...though he's doing well in all of them (MA, NH, MI, UT).

Most of Texas's delegates are allocated proportionally by congressional district, but with a threshold of at least 20% to win any delegates in a district.  So if Perry can prevent any of his rivals from breaking 20% in most of the state's CDs, he can get nearly all the delegates there.
