If Vice President Hubert Humphrey had been elected President in 1968 instead of Nixon, how do you think he would've handled the Vietnam War?

He probably would've begun a slow withdrawal early with the goal to be out in 1970 or '71. Humphrey's timetable usually specified around about 16 months, though it would change based on the information he was getting at the time. Contrary to Nixon, Humphrey was adamantly opposed to escalation and his trips to Vietnam only enforced that notion. He would've ended the war much sooner and with fewer lives lost. I'm almost certain, based on how extensively I've researched him that by 1971, America would be out of Vietnam, not 1974.
